Since he was appointed artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear in 2018, Virgil Abloh has not stopped experimenting and innovating, challenging classic standards and distancing himself from meaningless stereotypes and clichés. From his Spring/Summer 2019 debut collection on a rainbow runway in the gardens of the Parisien Palais-Royal, to the animated universe created by the American designer for his Spring/Summer 2021 menswear show held between Shanghai and Tokyo. And don’t forget his acclaimed metaphor about time, needed now more than ever, present in his Fall/Winter 2020 collection. Now, coinciding with the reactivation of shows – mostly in digital format – and the presentation of its Men’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection on January 21, the French brand unveils Louis Vuitton: Walk in the Park. A series of physical and virtual dedicated to getting to know Virgil Abloh's creative imaginary first-hand, from January 8 to 31.
New times, new formats. And new experiences. Exclusivity understood as inaccessibility is gone forever, as well as one-way relationships between brands and customers. Temporary Residency, the space located on Rue du Pont Neuf built by the creative director on the value of inclusion as part of his new iniciative, Louis Vuitton: Walk in the Park, focuses on proximity and direct contact with their audience instead. How to get it? Through a temporary residency for the occasion that will host, from January 8 to 31, the most iconic sneakers, jewelry and sunglasses from Abloh's journey through the Maison.
In addition to having a Hall of Fame where the five most exclusive editions of the trademark LV Trainer can be found, the pioneering installation will be accompanied by the latest LV Trainer Upcycling from their latest collection, available in five new combinations of colors. An ode to creative reuse in which their most emblematic accessories will be shown in an exceptional store full of symbols. But that is not all. In a clear commitment to innovation and the latest technology, Louis Vuitton will offer an immersive augmented reality experience from January 15. The second chapter of the initiative promoted by Abloh, Louis Vuitton Maison Vendôme, will bring “Zoooom with friends” – the funny characters devised by the designer for his show in Asia – to life, on the facade of the historical Parisian building. And as if this were not enough, they will also launch a new filter with access to exclusive content, available in the LV app from January 21.
